Configuration

Moonswing is configured via a TOML file located at:

~/.config/moonswing/config.toml

If $XDG_CONFIG_HOME is set, the config file is read from $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/moonswing/config.toml instead.

The panel works out of the box with no configuration file. All settings have sensible defaults that match the standard layout. You only need to create a config file to customize behavior.

If the config file is missing or contains errors, the panel falls back to defaults silently.

  • Panels and layout — Panel geometry, anchors, layers, and which modules sit where.
  • Modules — Per-module options for every [modules.*] strip on the bar.
  • Shortcuts — Key bindings the shell asks the compositor to route to it.
  • Theme — Palette, fonts, panel and popup geometry.
  • Background — Wallpaper sources, fit, and rotation.
  • Desktop icons and widgets — The desktop grid: icons, and the widgets that share it.
  • Lock screen — Idle locking, the lock wallpaper, and what it needs installed.
  • Overlays and system integration — The emoji picker, calendar, notifications, on-screen indicator, power button, authentication prompts, screen sharing and input capture.
  • Google account — Signing in to Google under Settings › Accounts, its events in the calendar, and meetings on the todo board.
  • Full example — One config.toml exercising every section.
